Dusting off the blog

24 Jan

Not that it ever got much attention, but still.

I am determined to sew/quilt more this year, and document it here. I may also throw in some random cooking, crafting and aren’t my kids and animals cute posts.

But first, a few pictures of some of the projects I did get done last year:

Made the boy a new pillow out of his favorite outgrown sweater.

Custom art, with one of my favorite poems, for the bathroom.

New headboard, in collaboration with the man.

Quilt for my best friend’s birthday.

That last one took a very, very long time.

Random Poetry on a Wednesday

3 Nov

I have been planning to make a hanging for our bedroom featuring a bit of poetry. Something like this:

Or this:

I have been trying to decide on a poem or a bit of a poem, and reading lots of poetry.  For some reason a poem by W.H. Auden pushed its way out of some cobwebby corner of my mind today and now I have the perfect bit of poetry, the third and fourth stanzas of “As I Walked Out One Evening”

“I’ll love you, dear, I’ll love you
Till China and Africa meet,
And the river jumps over the mountain
And the salmon sing in the street,

‘I’ll love you till the ocean
Is folded and hung up to dry
And the seven stars go squawking
Like geese about the sky.”

Now to decide on style and color.
